Today’s college town restaurant/bar recommendations takes us to Ann Arbor, MI, courtesy of Verballer Jonathan. As always feel free to add anything he may have missed by emailing us at [email protected]
Zingerman’s – This nationally-known deli is always packed on gameday. Two hour line a few years ago for the Oregon game.
Palios – Nice Italian restaurant to visit if you meet a young lady at Ricks.
Grizzly Peak Brewing Co. – Microbrews, bitches. Microbrews.
New York Pizza Depot – A sloppy mess of late night pizza.
Any “Coney Island” – They are always open. The name of Michigan’s greasy spoons are always “Coney Islands”. Get the coney dog. You won’t regret it.
Rick’s American Cafe – Not as good as the one in East Lansing, but a dirty, fratty, basement bar that is full of cheap tricks and cheap vodka drinks. The line gets long. Go early
Scorekeepers/Brown Jug/Charley’s – Your best bet to actually watch football games while also getting drunk. Go to Charlies, and order the Ecto Cooler. It’s freaking awesome. And lime green like slimer from Ghostbusters.
Go upstairs from Charley’s and eat at BTB – formerly Big Ten Burrito. It’s like a sexy Qdoba or Chipotle that also has a dance floor and a full bar. Awesome combo.
Live – They have like 4 different clubs in one. Top floor looks like a carnival. It is creepy, but they have free popcorn and Karaoke. Bottom floor has live music on Friday nights by the Killer Flamingos. Michigan’s No.1 cover band. They always close out with Zombie from the Cranberries, becaus they are old school, but they also do new top 40.
As always, send in anything you think we may have missed or send in places from your own college town to [email protected]
