Ty and Dan run through a thin slate of Week 9 games, including the bright Friday night lights of Santa Clara, CBS’s unfortunate trip to Lexington, and JT Barrett’s potentially treacherous journey to State College. Plus, a letdown-lookahead sandwich for West Virginia, Arizona State’s late night Pac-12 telethon, and a Patriot League Lightning Round.

(1:30) — NEWS
Georgia is applying for reinstatement of running back Todd Gurley.
Arizona State’s Taylor Kelly appears to be back from injury for Saturday’s game.
(10:00) — Oregon (-17.5) at Cal (Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.): Ty’s belief in Cal’s high-flying offense could keep the Bears within the big spread. The game worries Dan, because he also believes Cal can pick on the Ducks’ secondary, though they have been professing over the last couple of weeks. However, the weaknesses in Cal’s defense should present no challenge to the Ducks’ offense.
(38:45) — USC (-1) at Utah: Dan has a strong take, locking up his pick. He likes the way Utah matches up with USC, and the Utes’ ability to run the ball and wear down the Trojans.
(15:10) — Mississippi State (-14) at Kentucky: Both Dan and Ty say that the Wildcats have improved this season, but they’re pretty sure the Wildcats haven’t done enough to compete with the Bulldogs. Ty points out Kentucky’s struggles against the run.
(24:00) — Ole Miss (-3.5) at LSU: Chris the Capper locks this game up. Dan still worries about Ole Miss’ offense and Bo Wallace, which started slowly last week. Dan notes how good he believes the Rebels’ defense — possibly the best in the country — which will likely dominate again this game with LSU’s young Anthony Jennings at the helm of the Tigers’ offense. Ty believes this game will be ugly, which likely favors LSU. Ty also worries about the reappearance of the bad Dr. Bo.
(19:00) — West Virginia (+1) at Oklahoma State: Dan doesn’t like the way the Cowboys have looked in the last couple of weeks, especially the running game. Dan goes back and forth in his pick, and understand why the Mountaineers could drop this game in a lookahead-letdown spot. Ty reiterates how mediocre the Cowboys’ have looked, especially in a blowout loss to TCU the week before.
(32:00) — Ohio State (-14.5) at Penn State: Ty said Penn State’s defense is still solid. He also is not sure how JT Barrett will handle a road game in front of a hostile crowd. However, he’s not sure those reasons are enough to believe in Penn State in this game. Dan thinks it could be a good first half from Penn State’s offensive line, which could give Christian Hackenberg time to pick on an untested Buckeye secondary. However, the depth for Ohio State is likely too much for Penn State. Ty locks up a bet in this game.
