Jameis Winston suspended for the first half of Florida State’s game with Clemson

Dan says Jameis Winston is America’s sweetheart for this outburst, which earned the Heisman Trophy winner a half-game suspension from Florida State for the game against Clemson. Could it be the “crime” of the year with the stiff competition from another Winston transgression?

Auburn (-9.5) at Kansas State: Dan takes Auburn but is not confident about the pick. He doesn’t trust Kansas State after struggling against Iowa State. Ty agrees, noting the Wildcats’ inconsistencies so far. Ty will be stunned if Kansas State wins. Dan locks up Auburn at 8.5 or 9.5, but says he will be happy to be wrong in that prediction.

Florida (+14.5) at Alabama: Dan tries to explain why that line is lower than what it seems it should be, and comes up with scenarios for how the Gators’ cover the spread. He does not make an exact pick, but seems to have Alabama by a hair. Ty picks Alabama to easily win the game because the Tide have too much balance and talent for the Gators. He believes the only way the Gators can cover is in a backdoor variety.

Utah (+5.5) at Michigan: Dan thinks the Utes’ Travis Wilson will have somewhat of a breakout game and picks Utah outright to win the game. Ty says this is a huge game for Brady Hoke because he has the superior talent but may be out-coached in a loss. Ty agrees, also picking Utah to win outright, noting that Michigan fans may be angry.

Miss St. (+10) at LSU: Dan and Ty discuss Dak Prescott’s hype and highlights of his game against powerhouse UAB. Dan picks LSU to cover because of a defense built to stop the type of offense the Bulldogs’ want to run. Ty agrees again. He believes Miss. St. has the defense to stymie the Tigers, but can they move the ball at all against LSU? He predicts LSU to win, 26-14. Dan goes out on a limb and predicts a crazy trick play from the mad hatter.

Cal (+10) at Arizona: Ty is looking for a shootout but is definitely taking the points based on the theory, “take the points in a shootout.” Dan explains the Wildcats have not been prolific in stopping the pass this season, which is worrisome against the Bears’ air-raid offense. Both take the points, and Ty locks it up while picking Cal to win outright. Dan hesitates to pull the trigger on an outright Cal win.

Oklahoma (-7.5) at West Virginia: Dan likes a lot about West Virginia’s offense with Clint Trickett at the helm. Because of that, he picks West Virginia to cover the spread at home, predicting a 34-28 win for the Sooners. Ty is not buying West Virginia, though is hesitant to buy Oklahoma in a night game on the road. But Ty says the Sooners’ defense is clearly the best the Mountaineers will face all season and picks Oklahoma, 38-24.

Miami (+7) at Nebraska: Ty doesn’t know what to do with Miami’s front-7 on defense, with early statistics pointing to a revamped run defense. And that matchup is the key for Ty as he picks Miami to cover but Nebraska to win, 27-23. Dan agrees that Nebraska will win a close game, 28-24 or 28-27.

Clemson (+17) at Florida State: Ty says Clemson will definitely lose, but begs listeners to not call it a “Clemson-ing.” However, Dan says that Clemson could pull off the rare in-game “Clemson-ing” by going up big early only to go on to lose. Ty points to Clemson’s front-7 as the key matchup against Florida State’s front. Dan has gone back-and-forth about which team to pick ATS, but ultimately lands on FSU to barely cover, 41-23. Ty predicts a more lopsided affair in a Seminole romp, 42-14, but hopes for a good game.

North Carolina (+2.5) at ECU: Chris the Capper likes UNC +2.5 at ECU after picking the underdog Pirates against Virginia Tech last week in the upset win. He cites that UNC and ECU has played in six of the last seven years, and UNC is 5-1 ATS in those games. Predicts 41-28 for the Tar Heels.

Holy Cross at Harvard: Dan goes with the “Crossaders” to beat undefeated Harvard. Ty also goes with Holy Cross. He believes in the Heavenly Father.

Brown at Georgetown: Ty says he has to stick with the Pat League, so he picks Georgetown. Dan says Georgetown could have a letdown after its big 27-7 win over Marist last week, but sticks with the Hoyas.

Fordham at Columbia: Dan sticks with Fordham, New York’s one true college team. Ty does the same.

Cornell at Colgate: Dan picks undefeated Cornell, while Ty picks toothpaste to win.

Lehigh at Yale: Dan says LeHigh is embarrassing that region, so he picks Yale, which has a mascot named “Handsome Dan.” Ty sides with his better half and goes with 0-2 LeHigh yet again.

Bucknell at Sacred Heart: Ty and Dan both go with the Bison.

Lafayette at Bill and Mary: Dan and Ty agree again and go with Bill and Mary.
