Ty and Dan talk with Bud Elliott from TomahawkNation.com about Florida State’s situation in the ACC, its interest in the Big 12 and SEC, the snakebittenness of E.J. Manuel and the progression of the Seminole program under Jimbo Fisher. Plus, a voice message, an e-mail, and an update on Ty’s ailing back.

The Solid Verbal is a twice-weekly college football podcast started in 2008 by Ty Hildenbrandt and Dan Rubenstein. The show continues through the regular season, post-season, and off-season, because people don’t just watch college football, they live it.
How long must the B1G have to face Dan's condescension...The deprecating "hmpf" @ 34:26 that feigns surprise at Michigan's recruiting class is epic. Nice. Despite my Maize and Blue blood... it's amusing if only for the setup once that recruiting class actually shows up. How long ... how long before we are granted some bragging rights instead of humorous derision. It hurts to laugh at that.
The Big12 was either the best or second best conference in football last year (depending on how you feel about top-heavy vs depth arguments). The SEC is better at the top on a year-to-year basis, but their depth gets overrated because of how frequently the elite teams in any given year come from the SEC. While OU and UT dominated the conference for most of the last decade, you still saw some good runs by Texas Tech, Mizzou, Oklahoma State, etc from the non-elite tier. Moreover, I think it's fair to say that the 10 teams in the Big12 will be rated higher next year than the ACC and have coaches who are more respected going forward as well.
If teams like FSU and Clemson move to the BigXII then they instantly become the 2nd best conference in the nation. 4th best is laughable.
i love jimbos all business mindset...dont worry about kissing guys like buds a.ss! especially when they prove, as in this interview, that they dont know much aside frm the business side of fsu athletics....jimbo is a coaches coach! thats how we roll n the midwest... lol!!! and obviously thats the same region from where the lauded saban hails...sidenote......tickled for real fball playoff...especially after dilluting our already simple schedule
hard to do run checks with 11 offensive lineman starting n a season....goes back to run the play called..quit trying to be cute when ur n an obvious experience & cohesion disadvantage...that doesnt mean ej cant "process" on the fly or anything else...the kid just has no touch....period...not hard to understand when u see him throw to a back n the flat more than once....that doesnt mean hes not seeing most progressions as he should...it just means he has donovan mcnabb disease..makes hard things look easy and vice versa...but suggesting he cant notice more guys on 1 side of the field is egregious...and ignorant
sounds like the las "lost" decade of bobbys historic career really took a toll on fsu finances....maybe quit scheduling savannah st...and u wldnt hav to worry about raising tuition or cutting faculty..coming from an unbiased supporter..fsu seems to think theyre bringing more to the table than they have in a 12 years....and this official bashing is ridiculous......i hate miami...and u can cry al u want bud...but it was 1 judment call that ddnt go our way....my goodness....yeh every time an official blows a bang, bang call lets move conferences.....ridiculous!! sounds like that argument just fits with buds constant misguided & ignorant bash miami agenda....it really drags this argument into the mud
cldnt agree more guys...these fsu alumns kill me trying to jump to the 4th best conference in college football....way to shoot for the stars fellas....and it is so true the trail of tears wld start immediately on how much more texas made than fsu...i personally, coming from columbus, ohio, would love to see fsu @ wvu....but unlike many other so called "chiefs" my personal priorities dont come into play when it comes to the fsu brand
