Goodbye 2009 (12/30)

by Ty Hildenbrandt on December 30, 2009

Ty and Dan return from a brief respite to reflect upon the Mike Leach and Urban Meyer stories, as well as the bowl games that have already been played.  Plus, picks for the 18 games between now and next week’s podcast.

I listened to this show over breakfast on the morning of January 2nd. I think Ty managed to successfully pick every single bowl so far incorrectly, with the exception of the Florida-Cincy stomping — an event so overwhelmingly obvious that a group of untrained chimps picking between a photograph of Tony Pike and a photograph of Tim Tebow would certainly have fared better than 50% on picking Florida to more than cover the spread.

My favourite prognostication was definately: “I just don’t think Nebraska can score quickly enough”. Oops.

I will sleep very badly for the next two days after the unequivocal certainty with which Ty picked TCU over Boise.

I’ve participated in ESPN.COM Bowl Mania for the past few years. Prior to this year, my high was 99.8%–my low: 91.3%. With only three games remaining in this season, I’m currently at 21.5%. The Lord-of-the-Flies side of me wants to jump in on the Ty bashing right now, but I just can’t, when I’m only slightly better. This bowl season is surreal. One last thought . . . Did Ty pick Bama? (I just checked, he did.)
